Lived experience of SDS

We believe that the insights of people who need social care support and unpaid carers are vital to improving Self-directed Support, and positive change cannot happen unless they are heard and included. We seek to amplify the voices of people with lived and loved experience in both local and national spaces.

Share your experience

Are you a disabled adult or unpaid carer? If so, we would like to hear from you.

We know that sometimes you might feel like no one is listening to your thoughts and feelings about Self-directed Support and the help you get. We want to change that.

Over the next year, we will be asking some questions about SDS in Scotland and if you get social care, we want to know what you think. These questions are all about how much choice and control you have in your life.

We don’t ask for your name.

Information will then be shared with the National SDS Collaboration. This is where people come together to talk about how to make SDS better in Scotland. Your feedback will help us change how we do things.

Please note that unfortunately we cannot reply to individual issues around SDS. If you would like advice, support or information on Self-directed Support you can access this via the SDS Handbook.

Connected Conversations

In Control Scotland are hosting a series of Connected Conversations sessions where people with lived and loved experiences of Self-directed Support can come together and share their views about their own experiences. These will be listened to and then fed back to the National SDS Collaboration.
